Community Meals

We can’t wait to get back to Community Meals and gathering with y’all when it is safe to do so!

Our first community meal was held on our two month anniversary, Sunday July 8th, 2012. Over 40 pizzas were served to over 250 very happy guests, and a band even played a renegade show on a nearby rooftop, while people of all kinds came together to share delightful conversation and enjoy some free, fresh, delicious food!

We look forward to continuing this tradition once a season and meeting and serving more amazing folks in the community!

Chef and Owner Nick Yapor-Cox thinks that making his food accessible and fun is one of the most important reasons for cooking in the first place. As a product of North Oakland and someone who takes a great amount of pride in the city he grew up in, Nick is thrilled by the chance to share his pizza with his home town.

To this end, Nick’s will be throwing a community meal once every few months, with free slices and salad for anyone and everyone who wants one. The first one of these meals took place on Sunday July 8th.

“I do this because I love to cook, but really I love to cook because I love feeding people. I feel such deep gratitude for all the love and support I’ve been given in this neighborhood in the last few months, I look forward to creating a years long relationship with the folks here, and with all of my pizza loving fans”

As a born and raised North Oaklander, Nick cares deeply about the neighborhood and it’s residents. To show his love for Oakland he will be throwing Free Community Meals at the shop once every few months. On these nights Nick will throw open the doors of the pizzeria for a few hours and serve free slices to anyone and everyone. Stay tuned on Facebook for Community Meal updates (

“I love feeding people and believe in business supporting the communities that support them,” Chef Yapor-Cox says “and my pizza’s so darn good, I believe it should be the right of every Oaklander to get to try it at least once.”
